SOAR-RACING is a simulated auto racing league using NASCAR Racing 3 from Papyrus.

New drivers may join the series at any time during the season, and you may run in one or all races during the season. A car set for N3 is mandatory and is available from the "Drivers" page. The correct roster file is included in the carset.

Once you download the required files, here is how you get started with SOAR-RACING:

Setup your NASCAR Racing 3 with the official SOAR-RACING car set for the division you are running. Be sure to have your name at the top of the list in Player Info. You may import your own paint scheme if you like. Any number not already in use is OK.

Settings will be constant throughout the season, so you can run a race ahead of schedule if you know you are going to miss a race and don't have any provisionals.  See the "schedule" page for settings.

Provisional will be given.  Each driver starts the season with five (5) provisionals.  From race six (6) on, you can earn a provisional for each four races you run. (ie: run race 6 - 9, earn another provisional, etc).

All results are due on Monday at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.  Any results not received by 4pm Pacific Time on Tuesday will not be scored and a provisional will be awarded if available.

Check the current week's race settings by clicking on "Schedule " from the main menu.

Set the race options according to the race settings (opponent strength, race distance, etc.).

Qualify and run your race in accordance with the specific rules listed below.

IMPORTANT!!! NASCAR® Racing 3 does not automatically produce a results file. You MUST do this manually through the Export option at the end of the race. Make sure you are on the "Final Race Standings" page when you export your results. N3 should default to this page at the end of the race. Run a "cool down" lap to make sure all the ai cars have taken the checkers. Failure to do so will leave you with no results to email the director.

All results must be zipped using WinZip, or a similar program. Failure to zip your results will result in disqualification from the race. Email your zipped results to the Soar-racing N3 Offline Director.

Your results are compiled along with your other human competitors.

The above section is meant to simplify our series for new drivers. Specific rules are listed below, and must be followed closely.

2- Race Settings

Weather and number of laps will be posted on the "Schedule" Page..

You will now score points based upon how you finish against your computer opponents. See section 6.0 for a further explanation.

In general, we will run races with:

---Damage = Realistic

---Full Pace Lap = your choice

---Yellow Flags = ON

---Double file Restarts = ON

---AI Strength = 98%

3- Setting Up Your Software for SOAR-RACING

SOAR-RACING races must be ran in single race mode .

You MUST use your real name in the game. Your name MUST be the only name without the S_ prefix, and it MUST be at the top of the driver's list.

You MUST install the offline.cfg file. You can download it here. The file will self-extract into the default N3 directory which is "C:\Papyrus\NASCAR3". If you have installed N3 into a different directory you must make sure the offline.cfg file gets installed properly. If you turn in results without having the offline.cfg file present in the N3 folder our scoring software will detect that it is missing and your results will be disqualified.

NO alterations of the track.ini files or ai skill settings may be done. Any changes will be detected by our software and your results will be disqualified..

4- RUNNING YOUR RACE

Race settings are posted on the N3 Offline website. Click on "Schedule" from the main menu to obtain the race settings.

4 Run your qualifying session. Be sure you have your lap speed indicator set to SPEED and not TIME. Setting this to time will cause your qualifying speed to be reported in seconds in your results file and will result in you being placed at the rear of the field. You MUST stay on the racing surface at all times.

Restarts are NOT allowed, with these exceptions only:

You may restart at anytime before completing the first lap. This will allow for any weird happenings by the computer cars on the first lap of the race.

You may restart your race if you hit a "glitch" in NASCAR Racing 3 that destroys your race (for example, you have a multi-car wreck and the entire field stops and will not move). Restarting due to car damage is NOT allowed. You are allowed ONE save per race. Additional saves will result in a 10 lap penalty per extra save.

No changes are to be made to any files in the software, unless noted in these rules.

If you DNF for any reason you can use the accelerated time feature of NASCAR Racing 3 to complete your race (escape and click "accelerated time").

You are NOT allowed to "lag back" at the green flag, and gain a running start, passing many cars at the drop of the flag. NO PASSING IS ALLOWED before reaching the start/finish line on the green flag or any restart, regardless of how much the AI cars may slow. Please do not cause cautions for your own benefit.

5- SENDING RESULTS

You MUST manually save your results at the end of the race. The software does not automatically produce a results file. Be sure your race is completed and ALL cars have crossed the s/f line ending the race before saving your results. To save your results, make sure the race is over. Make sure you are on the "Final Race Standings" page. (N3 should default to this page when the race is over.) Click export.   Name your file accordingly:  first initial of first name, first four letters of last name, and track name. (ie: rneisdayt = rob neises daytona)  Your file will be located in the "C:\Papyrus\NASCAR3\exports" folder.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, rename or edit your results file after it has been exported. If you do, your results will show up in our scoring software as having been tampered with and will results in your expulsion from Soaracing N3 Offline and your name being sent to all other Soar-racing directors. It will then be up to their discretion as to whether or not to let you race, or continue to race, in their division.

There will be NO EXCUSES allowed in this matter. Drivers in the past have stated such things as; "My roommate wanted to see what it was." "My little brother must have been messing with my computer." "My dog did it." If your software fails our scoring software's anti-cheat test, that's it, you're done, end of story, pack it up and don't come back. We are very easy going and lenient here at Soar-racing, but cheating is the one thing we WILL NOT TOLERATE!

When emailing results, please make the subject heading contains your name and the race name. This will assist us in tracking down lost or missing results files. Results MUST be zipped and emailed as a file attachment to the Soar-racing N3 Offline director.

All races are due by 11:59 pm Pacific Time the day of the race deadline.  Results received after 4pm Pacific Time the day after results due will not be scored.

There are "hardship" exceptions to the deadline. If your computer crashes, family emergency, stuck in a blizzard, etc. you may ask the Soaracing N3 Offline director for an extension. If he feels that your excuse is valid, you may be granted an extension to the deadline. In this instance, please try not to take more than ONE extra day to get your results sent in. It is not fair to the other drivers to have to wait days longer than necessary to view the results of the race. After all, the Soaracing N3 director can be slow enough all on his own without a driver adding even more of a delay.

6- SERIES RESULTS

1. Laps Completed

2. Finishing Position

3.Average Speed

4. Laps Led

5. Qualify Speed

Races are scored based on the number of laps completed.

All drivers finishing on the same lap are then scored by finishing position.

Average speed will be the next tiebreaker.

The driver that led the most laps will be considered next in position.

You will be scored by how you run against the other drivers in your division.

A detailed summary of race results will be posted to the SOAR-RACING Division homepage. Please allow at least 24 hours for race results to be posted after race deadline. Every effort will be made for results to be posted in a timely manner.

Rules may and will change at any time if deemed necessary for the integrity of the series. Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified and permanently banned from this series and their name turned over to the other series we communicate with.

7- BONUS POINTS

Five (5) Bonus points will be credited to the driver who leads the most laps during his/her race. Five (5) bonus points are also credited to any driver who leads a lap during their race. Five (5) bonus points are also credited to the driver who takes the poll.
