--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1- Series Overview

SOAR-RACING is a simulated auto racing league using Nascar Racing 2003 from Papyrus.

New drivers may join the series at any time during the season, and you may run in one or all races during the season. A car set for NR2003 is mandatory and is available from the "Files" page. The correct roster file is included in the carset.

Once you download the required files, here is how you get started with SOAR-RACING:

Setup your Nascar Racing 2003 with the official SOAR-RACING car set for the division you are running. Be sure to have your name in Player Info and the Opponent Manager. You may import your own paint scheme if you like. Any number not already in use is OK.

Check the current week's race settings by clicking on "Schedule and Settings" from the main menu.

Set the race options according to the race settings (opponent strength, race distance, etc.).

Qualify and run your race in accordance with the specific rules listed below.

IMPORTANT!!! NASCAR® Racing does not automatically produce a results file. You MUST do this manually through the save option at the end of the race. Failure to do so will leave you with no results to email the director.

Email your results to the director of the division you are running.

Your results are compiled along with your other human competitors. A summary of series results is available from the SOAR-RACING homepage.

The above section is meant to simplify our series for new drivers. Specific rules are listed below, and must be followed closely.

Each division may have slight variations, which will be listed on the webpage for those specific divisions.

2- Race Settings

Weather and number of laps will be posted on the division webpage for each race.

Pit stops will be set to 2X .

You will now score points based upon how you finish against your computer opponents. See section 6.0 for a further explanation.

In general, we will run races with:

---Damage = Moderate

---Full Pace Lap = choice

---Yellow Flags = ON

---Double file Restarts = ON

---AI Strength = MANUAL

---Adaptive Speed Control = OFF (Unchecked)

3- Setting Up Your Software for SOAR-RACING

SOAR-RACING races must be ran in single race mode .

You MUST use your real name in the game.

You may use any help options available to you (manual/auto shift, traction control, etc).

You MUST enable the OFFLINE LEAGUE INFO in your player.ini file! This is very important, and results that do not include the extra information will not be accepted. To do this, locate your player.ini file located in your c:\papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003\players\ folder. Open the player.ini file in notepad, find the MISC section. Change the "off_line_league_info" flag to 1. It should appear as:

· [Misc]

· clear_replay_each_session=0 ; Erase replay tape between sessions?

· off_line_league_info=1 ; Export extra info?

NO alterations of the track.ini files may be done. Any changes will be detected by our software.

4- RUNNING YOUR RACE

Race settings are posted on the SOAR-RACING website. Click on "Schedule and Settings" from the main menu to obtain the race settings.

4 Run your qualifying session. Be sure you have your lap speed indicator set to SPEED and not TIME. Setting this to time will cause your qualify speed to be reported in seconds in your results file. You are NOT allowed to enhance your qualify session by using methods that real drivers would not do to warm tires. You MUST stay on the racing surface at all times.

Restarts are NOT allowed, with these exceptions only:

You may restart at anytime before completing the first lap. This will allow for any weird happenings by the computer cars on the first lap of the race.

You may restart your race if you hit a "glitch" in Nascar Racing that destroys your race (for example, you have a multi-car wreck and the entire field stops and will not move). Restarting due to car damage is NOT allowed. (And will be detected)

No changes are to be made to any files in the software, unless noted in these rules.

If you DNF for any reason you must use the accelerated time feature of Nascar Racing to complete your race (escape and click "accelerated time").

You are NOT allowed to "lag back" at the green flag, and gain a running start, passing many cars at the drop of the flag. NO PASSING IS ALLOWED before reaching the start/finish line on the green flag or any restart, regardless of how much the AI cars may slow. Please do not cause cautions for your own benefit. You are allowed to save your qualify session if desired.

5- SENDING RESULTS

You MUST manually save your results at the end of the race. The software does not automatically produce a results file. Be sure your race is completed and ALL cars have crossed the s/f line ending the race before saving your results. To save your results, click the "standings" tab at the top of the screen. Click export. Type your file name using the method described in the next section. Your file will be located in the c:\papyrus\Nascar Racing 2003\Imports and exports folder. To be sure ALL cars have completed the race, try hitting the accelerate check box after you exit the race.

DO NOT edit any of the information in your results file generated by the software. Failure to heed this warning will results in your disqualification from the series.

When emailing results, please make the subject heading your name and the race name. This will assist us in tracking down lost or missing results files. Results MUST be emailed as a file attachment to the correct address, and ALL drivers must zip their results html files.

Race results are due by 12 midnight ET the day of the race deadline. All results must be received by this time in order to be accepted.

6- SERIES RESULTS

1. Laps Completed

2. Finishing Position

3.Average Speed

4. Laps Led

5. Qualify Speed

6. Number of Cautions {less is better}

7. Number of Competitors cars out of the race {less is better here too}

Races are scored based on the number of laps completed.

All drivers finishing on the same lap are then scored by finishing position.

Average speed will be the next tiebreaker.

The driver that led the most laps will be considered next in position.

You will be scored by how you run against the other drivers in your division.

A detailed summary of race results will be posted to the SOAR-RACING Division homepage. Please allow at least 24 hours for race results to be posted after race deadline. Every effort will be made for results to be posted in a timely manner. If you have problems/questions concerning the series your director of the respective division.

Rules may and will change at any time if deemed necessary for the integrity of the series. Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified and permanently banned from this series and their name turned over to the other series we communicate with.

7- BONUS POINTS

Five (5) Bonus points will be credited to the driver who leads the most laps during his/her race. Five (5) bonus points is also credited to any driver who leads a lap during their race.
